Cointelegraph to gift NFTs to honorees on its ‘Notable 100’ blockchain list
The members of our Top 100 Notable People in Blockchain deserve more than just our respect…
Now that Cointelegraph’s “Top 100 Notable People in Blockchain 2021” has been fully revealed, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the surprises were over for another year.
Well, not quite.
We believe that those who gained a place within our list deserve more than simply being celebrated on our website… so we’ve immortalized them as unique nonfungible token artworks designed by the talented illustration team here at Cointelegraph.
But unless you’re on the list, don’t get too excited just yet. These NFTs won’t be available to the general public. Instead, each person on our Top 100 will receive their own NFT collectible.
We’ve also decided to give an Honorable Mention (and NFT) to the inimitable Elon Musk.
He’s been teasing us with enigmatic crypto hints for so long that it almost became a non-story. But after shooting a Shiba Inu to the moon, he finally came out all guns blazing for Bitcoin and told us that it was “inevitable.”
Inevitably too late for inclusion in our Top 100-proper unfortunately, but definitely in time for an Honorable Mention.
Of course, the more eagle-eyed among you may have realized that we can’t easily deliver an NFT to all of our Top 100 recipients. Some are anonymous… and we’re not sure the U.S. Marshals Service would appreciate it, anyway. But the real question is how to include the honoree at the very top of the list: #1 – All of Us.
This NFT will be auctioned through Rarible over the next week and will be the only NFT of this batch available on the open market… unless of course, one of the initial recipients falls on hard times and decides to sell. But hey, at least this is blockchain… so the provenance will never be in doubt.
Once again, we congratulate all of the worthy members of our Top 100 and look forward to their future contributions to the blockchain and crypto space.
